Killed in action, ditched after engine failure, in Supermarine Spitfire Mk IX #MH705. On first operation against enemy objective in Crete on 4 December 1944, Lt K George was forced to bale out of Spitfire 100 miles due north of Derna due to engine trouble. His chute was seen to open, circling aircraft saw pilot in sea waving and holding onto dinghy. Intensive search, 141hrs aircraft and 77 high speed launch, proved fruitless. Lt George declared dead
