Afwries , Jan (J)

Mike Sandham's research log ("List 1"), row Sheet3:2014, imported 16 Sep 2026. Credited to The South Africa War Graves Project (southafricawargraves.org) unless his entry says otherwise. NEW ROH record -- no match on the roll by service number, by surname with date, or on a widened surname-plus-year check. Mike's entry verbatim:
"07 Apr 1979: 79682563CK Rifleman Jan Afwries from the South African Cape Corps Died in Private Vehicle Accident, at Gobbabis. He was off duty. He was 20."
21 Sep 2026: CauseDeath trimmed to the circumstance of death alone. On import it had been set to Mike Sandham's entire entry, repeating the date, service number, rank, name and unit that this record already holds in its own fields. His wording is quoted verbatim in the citation above, so nothing is lost. Defect found when Graham du Toit's Last Post of 21 Sep 2026 independently confirmed one of these records, Sikirila 49773.
