Charlie's Omega, Danie van den Berg (memoir/history of Omega Base, 31 Battalion, Just Done Productions 2007), "List of 31 Bn soldiers killed during and after the Bushwar" (p.80-81) -- itself an extract from this ROH website (www.justdone.co.za/ROH/List_People.php?UnitAbv=31Bat, under the site's old PersonNumber scheme) cross-checked by the author against southafricawargraves.org and Ian Uys's book Bushman Soldiers - Their Alpha and Omega, with discrepancies between those sources ('Differ WGP', 'Differ I.Uys') noted where the author found them. Marked 'I' (Internal Conflict); the book itself flags this entry 'Differ Not On WGP' -- not found on the War Graves Project's own list at all, so treat with extra caution.
Unit given as plain '31 Battalion' (not '31 (Bushman) Battalion' or '201 Battalion') to match other post-independence 'Internal Conflict'-era records already on file from the same period (e.g. Pontes PN 41793, Ponto PN 41805).
2 Oct 2026: YEAR QUERY, NOT CHANGED. Mike Sandham (SAWGP) omissions email, 2 Oct 2026: this man's name is inscribed on the SADF Wall of Remembrance under the **1990** Army Panel (photo hosted on SAWGP under an unrelated man's page, id=32704 -- Robertson, Iain Bruce, PersonNumber 32704 here, died 1990-07-11 -- the photo host page is not a claim that these are the same man). This record's own DateDeath, 1991-10-02, matches Sandham's own independent citation of this exact record ("1991/10/02 Person # 49370...31 Battalion" -- sourced by Sandham to rohsa.co.za, i.e. this roll itself). Not changed: a physical memorial panel's year does not necessarily equal the stored date of death (panels are sometimes dedicated or batched later), and no contrary primary source gives a different date. Flagging the 1990-panel/1991-record gap for human review only.
