Mike Sandham reference, 25 Aug 2026, sourced to pantser.cmvo.org.za's "Lys van Weermaglede wat aan diens gesterf het" (SADF deaths 1962-2001, excl. 1993). Source columns as transcribed -- Rang: "2 LT", Eenheid (unit, truncated in source): "17 SQUAD", Plek/Oorsaak/Detail/next-of-kin (run together by the source's column layout): "DULLSTROOM MILITARY AIRCRAFT HELICOPTER MR D. H. BOTHA FATHER". Additional wrapped text: "ACCIDENT". Unit left blank rather than inserting the truncated PDF unit text as a guess -- "17 SQUAD" wasn't confidently mappable to an existing Unit record.
15 Oct 2026: CORRECTED. CauseDeath was a garbled field reading "DULLSTROOM MILITARY AIRCRAFT HELICOPTER MR D. H. BOTHA FATHER" -- confirmed self-evidently corrupted: SAWGP (southafricawargraves.org/search/details.php?id=29532) gives a clean "aircraft accident involving Alouette III #35, near Dullstroom" cause and separately lists "Son of Mr. D. H. Botha" as next of kin -- the old field was a mangled run-together of the cause text and the next-of-kin name, matching the source's known column-concatenation pattern. Col (rt) Graham du Toit Last Post, 15 Oct 2026, independently gives the fuller narrative (fog, flight from Pilgrimsrest to Pretoria) now used here. Unit filled to 17 Squadron, Regiment to South African Air Force (both previously blank), Age filled to 20, DateBirth to SAWGP's exact 24 Nov 1942. SPELLING NOTE, NOT CHANGED: Graham spells the first name "Henri Andre" (with a trailing apostrophe); SAWGP spells it "Henry Andre" (no accent), matching this record's existing "Henry André" more closely -- existing spelling kept. DATE NOTE, NOT CHANGED: SAWGP gives DOD 16 Oct 1963 (one day later); this record and Graham both say 15 Oct -- DateDeath left at 1963-10-15.
