(Natal Carbineers) in 1914, rank Lieutenant; and saw service in during Rebellion and in GSWA to July 1915; gazetted to 1st Cape Corps, 6/10/1915, rank Captain. Commemoration stone in Sunderland (Bishopwearmouth) Cemetery
