Son of Herbert and Florence Amelia Cooke; stepson of Mr. F. D. Laland, of Bulawayo, Southern Rhodesia. an Assayer and Sampler on the Fred Mine, Filabusi, Southern Rhodesia before the war. His interests were all sports, shooting, fishing and mechanics. Harold was educated at Chaplin School and Prince Edward. His twin brother, Flt. Lieut. Grimwood Cooke, D.F.C., D.F.M., also died on service.
