Died of wounds. He was the driver of a jeep transporting the CQMS when they were attacked by a German patrol. Although wounded, gunshot wound left arm and leg, fractured thigh, he was able to return fire, killing two and wounding another, who later died. This was in the vicinity of Siena, west of Florence
