Killed in action, when the 90mm Eland he was a crew commander in, was hit, by a 106 recoil-less, while going through a ditch. The projectile entered the turret from the top, exactly where the front crew commanders episcope is mounted. The driver and gunner escaped with minor wounds. The turret was replaced and the car went back into action

Son of Mr. C. T. Truebody. Attended Centaurus High School in Windhoek. The bridge he died on was built by his father's engineering firm.

Citation

LG Sup 17 April 1917 - "For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He displayed great courage on several occasions in getting his men and mules through heavy shell fire. He set a splendid example to his men throughout under the most difficult circumstances."
