ref. 85 years of SAAF
Cleared stolen ServiceNo 77389005PE (belongs to Sieberhagen R.G. PN 32947, 1999; this record is 1961). | Col (rt) Graham du Toit Last Post 10 Feb 2026: Captain Frans Krige Siebrits, 28 Squadron, killed when C-47 Dakota 6856 crashed and burnt out near Bizana, age 24. Graham gave no service number. Same Dakota 6856 crash near Bizana as Siebrits F.K. PN 32949, Heyns A.J.A. PN 30708, Meise L.F. PN 31853, Nel D.H. PN 32204 and Serfontein J.E. PN 32887. Graham: crashed and burnt out.
5 Sep 2026: Unit "28 Squadron" (a squadron, SAAF's regiment-equivalent) promoted to Regiment, per John's decision. Corps (South African Air Force) unchanged.
25 Sep 2026, Unit2 service-branch sweep: the stored Secondary Unit "Army" was CLEARED. It was not a sub-unit, it was a service-branch word, and it CONTRADICTED this record's own Branch, "Air Force". Across the roll 787 records carried such a contradiction; judged against Corps and Regiment -- independent of both columns -- the evidence backed Branch 744 times and Unit2 not once. Branch is therefore kept and the contradicting word removed. Nothing is guessed: this man's branch of service is already recorded, and his sub-unit, if any, is simply not known.
