Son of Gary Brandt and Elaine McCulloch-Brandt, and brother of Sebastian McCulloch-Brandt. From Cape Town, South Africa. Left South African when he was 14 years old and finished his schooling at the Grammar School in Corsham he also attended the Catholic school in Slough for a year before moving to Corsham

He was instrumental in saving the lives of several NCOs and men of his company who had been buried in a tunnel by an enemy bombardment. He was severely wounded whilst engaged on this duty."
