Ref SANDF 1998 RoH
4 Sep 2026: Regiment leftover "SA Army" cleared -- that's the service branch (Army, as distinct from Navy/Air Force), not a specific regiment; the actual unit ("115 South African Infantry Battalion") is already captured in Unit. Per John's decision, the 52 records with no better Unit info were left as-is.
25 Sep 2026, Unit2 service-branch sweep: the stored Secondary Unit "Army" was CLEARED as a duplicate. It was not a sub-unit, it was a service-branch word repeating what the Branch column already says. Secondary Unit is for sub-units -- a company, a squadron, a commando -- and this record's branch of service is unchanged at "Army".
Database-wide FirstName/Age contamination sweep (extension), 28 Sep 2026: FirstName 'Nicholaas Monde' and Age 36 were forward-filled from PersonNumber 31504 down a contiguous run of 2 records -- this record's own LastName ('Mahlati'), Initials ('M G'), ServiceNo ('95655288') and DateDeath ('1998-10-06') are all genuinely distinct, confirming a different real person whose FirstName/Age were simply never captured. Unlike the first pass of this sweep, Unit is NOT touched here -- it is not part of this contamination (see the Unit-restoration correction on the related run) and this record's own Unit ('115 South African Infantry Battalion') is left exactly as found. FirstName and Age CLEARED; no replacement guessed.
6 Oct 2026: Age 46 filled (was blank), per Col (rt) Graham du Toit Last Post, 6 Oct 2026: "Lieutenant Colonel M G Mahlati from the South African Army died of disease in Johannesburg. He was 46." Initials "M G", date and cause (medical, off duty) already matched.
