Originally he served 1st SAI DLI "B" Coy from 15.10.14 and served until Demobilized 18.7.1915 he is entitled to a 1914/15 star for this service. He later served 3rd SAI enlisting on 13.8.15 regimental number 127, He was wounded in action at Delville Wood on 16-July-1916, Gun shot wound back and was invalided to UK, rejoined unit on 28-September-1916
