Notes

Son of Rev. William Nimmo Brown and Catherine Georgianz Brown, of "Nieppe", Heseldon Rd., Rondebosch, Cape Town. A South African by birth, came to George Watson’s College. in 1906, and distinguished himself as a three-quarter in the XV. and A.S.M. in the College Troop of Scouts. Returning to South Africa in 1911, he found employment in the Government Bacteriological Dept. Enlisting in the Cape Peninsular Rifles in Aug. 1914, he came overseas as 2/Lt. in the S.A. Infantry. After serving in Egypt he gained his lieutenancy and was transferred to France in May 1916. On Rondebosch War Memorial in St. Paul's Anglican Churchyard. His brother also died in service.
