Son of Benjamin M. and Millicent A. Webber, of Bedford, Cape Province, South Africa. born 1/12/1883. Of Rhodesia. Educated at St. Andrew's College, Grahamstown. At St Andrew's from July 1894-1898. When war broke out he got a commission with the Lincolnshire regiment and was sent to the Dardanelles in 1915. He was killed on 7th August of that year. In a letter to this man's brother his adjutant writes that they were ordered to take hill 53. Webber and a Captain Buck reached the top of the hill first where Webber was killed by a wounded Turk who fired at him from the bottom of the trench. The adjutant buried Webber on the top of the hill, Yilghen Burnu, and placed a cross and inscription over him.
