Cause of Death
Killed in action, at 20:23 Wellington IV Z1342 of 142 Sqn coded QT-T took off from Grimsby. The mission was to bomb Frankfurt. On their return, they had problems with the motor and at 04:20 the aircraft ditched into the English Channel. It was a rough ditching. The aircraft broke in two just aft of the main spar and sank in seconds. Taylor had established radio contact with the DF stations and took ditching positions just before the aircraft crashed about 12 miles from the French coast. The entire crew except rear gunner Sgt.T.B.Treble managed to get out of the aircraft and into the dinghy. The latter, who came from South Africa, went down with the tail section
