Citation

MC earned WW1 with RFA, LG Sup 9 January 1918 - "For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty when taking guns into action to a forward position. When the enemy had put down a heavy barrage, thereby preventing the advance of his convoy, he made a daring personal reconnaissance, accompanied by a battery serjeant-major, to ascertain the best means of progress, and, after three attempts, he eventually got through, with only one driver and two horses killed. It was due to his gallantry and discretion that the guns were got into action with serious loss."
