Killed in action, in Liberator B24J Mk VI #KG970. Major Mouton was killed together with mid-upper gunner Lieutenant Bunce during a mission to bomb the oil storage tanks on the northbank of Danube at Giurgiu, south of Bucharest on 28th June 1944. Bomber B-24 E 970F was hit by nightfighters. Mouton and Bunce were killed, the rest of the crew managed to bail out and became Prisoners-of-War
