Citation

MC LG Sup 26 July 1917 - "For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. When his company commander had suffered heavy casualties, he encouraged the men by his example and gallantry, and extracted the men from a difficult situation with great skill." Bar to MC LG Sup 6 April 1918 pg. 4205 - "For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty as battalion intelligence officer in an attack. He went forward with the leading troops in the attack, in order to supervise the sending back of information. When the objective was taken, he repeatedly moved about from post to post under very heavy fire directing the consolidation and assisting the wounded to safety. His gallant behaviour saved many lives, and his fearless example was of great value in steadying the men."
