Only son of Major John de Stuteville Isaacson, (The Royal Scots) and Mrs. Katherine de Stuteville Isaacson, of 3, Pelham Place, South Kensington, London, England. He entered the School in 1897 and left in 1901, when he passed into the R.M.C., Sandhurst, but was rejected for defective eyesight. He was, however, gazetted to the 3rd Battalion The Royal Scots in 1902. Retiring with the rank of Captain in 1907, he went as a settler to British East Africa, and had a farm near Londiani. In August, 1914, he joined the East Africa Forces as Captain, and was afterwards employed on Special Service in German East Africa. His Staff appointment as D.A.Q.M.G. was made in April 1916. He was Mentioned in Despatches of May 8th, 1916, and was awarded the Military Cross "for distinguished service in the Field" in the Birthday Honours of June 3rd, 1917. At the time of his death he was acting as Staff Captain to General O'Grady. While leading an attack against the Germans, he was mortally wounded in a very heavy fight near Lindi, German East Africa, and died five hours later on June 11th, 1917.
