LG Sup 6 April 1918 - "For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He reorganised and led his company forward to the final objective, when his company commander had become a casualty. Whilst consolidating the position he exposed himself fearlessly, and moved about the line among his men throughout a heavy barrage. By skilful handling of his rifle, and Lewis gun fire he broke up a party of the enemy assembling for a counter-attack. He showed magnificent courage and skill throughout."
