Major N.A. "Spike" Powell MBE WB WKhm(G) was 3 Commando's 2 IC during Operation Cauldron in 1968. Major Powell's last appointment was Officer Commanding RLI Base Group. ref. Citation

Awarded while Sgt. 31 March 1978 - "He displayed initiative and bravery of the highest order. He personally accounted for 14 CT kills and 8 captures, including high ranking commanders". He was also recommended for Rhodesia's highest award, the Grand Cross of Valour.
