Son of Thomas Browning Watson and of Eila Mary Watson (nee MacEacharn), of Salisbury, Southern Rhodesia. Entered Grey House in 1918. After leaving Plumtree School in 1931 he obtained a Cadetship to the R.A.F. Cranwell. Between 1935 and 1937 he was in the Quetta earthquake and two North-West Frontier campaigns. On September 3rd, 1943, he took part in the raid over Berlin as leader of the Rhodesian Squadron No. 44 of Bomber Command, and was reported missing. Later it was ascertained by the International Red Cross that the plane was shot down at Velber Lenthe in Hanover.
