Son of Robert George Schwarz (merchant, of W. Kensington and of Bagshot, Surrey). B. May 4, 1875, at Lee, Kent. School, St Paul's, London. Matric. Michs. 1893. Football (rugby) 'blue,' 1893; played for England, 1899, 1901. Played cricket for South Africa v. England, 1904, 1906, 1907, 1910, 1912; v. Australia, 1912. In a London office, 1895-7. Member of the London stock exchange, 1899-1902. On Staff of the South African Railways, Johannesburg, 1902-4. Member of Johannesburg stock exchange, 1904-11; of the London stock exchange from 1911. Served in the Great War, 1914-19 (Capt., S. African Infantry; Major, King's R.R.C.; D.A.Q.M.G.; Asst. Controller of salvage; wounded; M.C.; mentioned in despatches). South African Cricketer - played in twenty test matches.
