LG Sup 18 July 1917 pg. 7212 - "For conspicuous gallantry when in command of his battalion. After an enemy attack, when some disorganisation had set in, he rendered invaluable aid in collecting stragglers and leading them forward, under heavy fire, in a counter attack. His coolness and bravery enabled him to successfully reorganise the troops at his disposal"
