A Heroine-class (Type 209/1400MOD) attack submarine of the South African Navy, built by Howaldtswerke-Deutsche Werft at Kiel and commissioned on 3 November 2005 under the Strategic Defence Package. She is the lead boat of three, with SAS Charlotte Maxeke and SAS Queen Modjadji.
On 20 September 2023, on passage from Simon's Town to Table Bay for the South African Navy Festival, high waves swept seven of her casing party overboard off Kommetjie at about 14h30 during a vertical replenishment exercise with a South African Air Force Maritime Lynx helicopter. All seven were recovered by the National Sea Rescue Institute near Slangkop Lighthouse. Three died: the executive officer, the coxswain and the coxswain under training. They are the only South African Navy deaths recorded on this roll for 2023, and were added on 26 September 2026.
